Chelsea

Stretching along the north bank of the Thames, affluent Chelsea has some of the capital’s most prime properties with stuccoed townhouses and mansion flats. Sloane Square Tube station brings you to the top of Kings Road, the area’s main shopping street, filled with boutiques and high street names and popular restaurants such as the Art Deco Bluebird. The area blossoms during the annual Chelsea Flower Show, a summertime institution, and local businesses decorate their shop fronts with blooms for the occasion. Hammersmith

With Hammersmith home to the popular Apollo music venue, the Lyric Theatre and the more artsy Riverside Studios, this is a popular night-time destination for good reason. Head towards the river for Thame-side dining and popular historic pubs such as The Dove, The Blue Anchor and The Old Ship. With Mayfair arguably London’s most prestigious address, packed with Michelin-star restaurants, five-star hotels, designer boutiques, and stunning period architecture, buying a property here doesn’t come cheap. You can pick up a one-bedroom flat for £500k to £2m but the most prestigious homes can go easily go north of £20m. Neighbouring Hyde Park is the area’s popular green space, with horse-riding, swimming in the Serpentine, a playground and Rose Garden. You’re so central here that many residents can walk to their place of work, equally, you are spoilt by many Tube stops on the doorstep.

Kensington

Tourists and Londoners make a beeline to Kensington for its world-renowned museums: the V&A, Science and Natural History, as well as the glorious green space of Kensington Gardens, and the iconic Royal Albert Hall. If you want to take up residence here and have deep pockets, then an imposing villa might suit, or a high-ceilinged luxury apartment near to the tranquil Holland Park – although there are also a wide range of flats too for more modest budgets.
